Argue with a fool will only lower yourself to their level, and they will beat you with experience.

Now, that's weak.

I understand that you are annoyed and furstrated, but you must let it go.

Go punch a wall or something, you will feel good after. (you will tend to ignore the pain from your knuckles or something)

Sure it is easy to say use the ignore, but I have yet to put anyone on my ignore list. Some people are just way too quick to use it.

We were in HP today and an ele was using searing heat we thought. We asked, they said no.

I wound up dying and had a chance to observe them after at the point I died I notice the tell tale searing heat animation, and sure enough they were.

So we asked them to stop using it because it breaks agro.

So then they complain, saying that none of the other groups she had ever been with ever complained and we should learn what we are talking about. Then said if you don't like it you can play without me. And did a rage quit.

No problem, but I send a pm and really very polited tell them that they should just take a look at what it is doing and accept some constructive criticism and to think of the team.

I left it alone at that then a few mins later she pms me and tells me she's been playing since first beta, yada yada yada. I try to response and i am on ignore of course. Then she keeps yelling at me and telling me to STFU.

Now I don't have a problem with trying to reason with someone and I am not one to stoop to name calling. But I want my fair chance to retort if I feel like trying to teach them.

So I log into my second account and tell them if they are going to try and berate me to not hide behind the ignore option and not be a coward and if they really want to convince me I'm wrong then talk about it.

I get "dude stfu" then my other account is on ignore.

No big deal, just can't stand that they are allowed to do this.

Today I made the mistake of trying Revive Animal for the first time while in tombs. The skill description makes it look extremely worth while, but it is not accurate. You do not revive all pets in the area, you don't revive anything unless you are standing on it! So, when I realized that I complained about it for a bit, since I hadn't brought comfort animal. Meanwhile, the MM starts hollering that the pets needed to be rezed immediately so that he would have more bodies. I put up with them going on about it for a while before I said, since I have to stand on the body to res, how about I run in and die while resing so you get a body. Everyone else thought it was funny, except the MM, who mentioned several more times he needed the pets up right away. I think he had put me on ignore because I wasn't quite able to do what he wanted with that skill. I will never use Revive Animal again!

Sorry, that was prolly off topic.

I would by no means call a person weak if they have to put someone on ignore. If your screen is being filled up with useless and insulting blather from the same person, ignore them, unless it is stupid to the point of hillarity. I have only ever really needed to put one person on ignore. I was in the middle of a mission so I really didn't have time to deal with him being a jerk. Really, after an hour, it should be enough time to remove them, there is no reason to have your ignore box all full. If they are still going on after an hour, or start up again, just ignore them till you feel enough time has passed. It is likely you'll remember the name if they ever message you again, so it doesn't really matter that much anyhow.

I've noticed that there's a ton of Know-It-Alls in this game. Today I was partying with this idiot W/Mo who kept targetting a mob in a crowd and saying "nuke". One of the first things he said while we were in group was "Why doesn't anyone listen to me?" I soon found out.

First of all, I damn well know my job. I nuke because it makes me happy , and I do it at every opportunity. Secondly, I'm being bombarded by Lava Spitters, all of whom are quite capable of interrupting my MS and invoking that lovely 60 second recharge. Thirdly, you can't see what my energy is at, so STFU.

I get the impression that people are justifying this kind of stupidity to themselves, saying that it's just "constructive criticism". It's idiotic, is what it is. What makes you so high and mighty that you can direct me? Why do you automatically assume that you know more than me? Do yourself a favor and shut up.

I do take criticism from people that present it in an intelligent way...as a matter of fact, I welcome it. But if a person doesn't have any people skills, I take it as a sign that the person is generally going to be stupid anyway, so I'm not missing out if I piss him/her off or ignore.

There are a lot of dumbasses in this game...it's unfortunate, because they're usually the ones that leave the biggest impression. But I favor ripping them apart in front of everyone for two reasons: 1) A person that's stupid enough to start a fight over nothing generally isn't going to stand up too well when the criticism is refocused on him (as was the case today), and 2) The ignore list is about 1/10th the size of what it needs to be.

Oh, and of course, some people just enjoy getting a rise out of you. I do my best to make sure they get both barrels in the process.

PS: I filled my ignore list by my third day of playing, just from people begging alone.

If you feel you really need to retort, then its a shame.

That need to retort is the need to prove yourself to that idiot who is being... an idiot =O

If in life you get upset by every little grip or comment then, you will not get far. IRL people are much more nastier and much more intellegent.

Silly name calling etc is really the least of your worries. I am sure, anybody that has been in a corporate environment will know this. So always wear a smile and these people are easily bored and will move on. If you have something pressing, just ignore them for a little while, else, if you want to have some fun reply. Experiance tells me the more friendly (but correct) you are, more more annoyed they will get. Its really quite simple.

If you are wrong, admit it, thats the only way you can prove to me that your are *not* weak.

gl hv fun xP

And what if you are the one who is wrong? I guess I never get to even reasonably discuss it because you have gone and blocked me.

A retort, might not just be a last word shot back, it is an attempt to continue a conversation or clear the air.

@Cherno:
If they put you on ignore then obviously they are afraid of something, why get worked up?

If you are unable to retort, too bad. get on with it.

If your opposing party is incorrect then all you can do is bring it to their attension, whether or not they listen to you is their god given right.

The fact that they blocked you means they don't want to discuss it, and thus there is nothing you can do. You can invoke your right to block them also. Do you really think you can talk sense into somebody that defensive?

It never really bothers me if somebody is trash-talking me at all. From other games, sometimes it's used as a small tactical advantage, although a weak one, at getting under your skin and making you play worse then you normally would with a clear head... then after you lose, you figure out that you were really mad the entire time at what that person said, and it becomes obvious. Ignoring is the best solution if it really gets to you that much, not really a whole lot more to say than that.

Yes I have turned a number of people around. It all depends on how you do it.

The arguement went to the back of my mind as I was just mad about them being able to ignore me and keep talking. Was a vent when I wrote it this morning when I was still steaming. Not doing so anymore.
